Cascade Summer Shootout 2024 Rules and Format
All games will be governed by the appropriate All NCAA adjusted rules to club format with the following exceptions and clarifications. These rules will be strictly enforced.
Four 11 minute quarters. 2 minute half time. 30 second huddle between quarters. Running time. 2 minute on-field warm up. Officials discretion to remove on-field warm up time based on game schedule, overtime games etc to keep fields on schedule.
Game time and penalty time will be kept at table
One timeout per game. No timeout allowed under 3 minutes in 4th quarter. The timeout does not carry to overtime. 30 seconds per time out. No timeouts in overtime.
Must touch the ball in the offensive box to call a timeout
STALLING – will be called early, if it is occurring! First REF will ask “to see some offense’ then YELL “CLOCK IS ON”. If REF believes a team is DELAYING THE GAME, they will initiate the :20 second belt timer- team must make a legitimate shot (hit goal or goalie) before the :20 timer buzzes or a change of possession will be called
No diving
20 seconds to cross midline, no over-and-back until 20 seconds elapses
Penalty time is to be administered as time and a half to account for the running clock. (i.e. 30-second penalty is administered as a 45-second penalty, 60-second as 90-second)
NCAA face-off rules
OVERTIME Rules: No timeouts, sudden victory, continuous play until the game is determined. Pool play and playoff games ending regulation time in a tie, will proceed immediately (no team huddle) to a 10v10 faceoff and sudden death overtime 4 minute overtime for pool play games and unlimited time for playoff game overtimes. If no goal has been scored in the 4 minute overtime for pool play games, the game will be scored as a tie. Playoff overtime will be played until a goal determines the winner.
Only the team’s head coach can challenge a posted score at the main tent. No challenges will be accepted after play is complete on Saturday afternoon. No calls or emails will be taken Saturday night about score discrepancies. Check your scores by round!
Timeouts
1 timeout per game. No timeout allowed under 3 minutes in 4th quarter. The game clock runs through the timeout. Penalty time stops during timeouts. Timeouts DO NOT carry to overtime. No timeouts in overtime
Overtime

If two teams are tied with the same won loss record, the following tiebreakers will be used (in sequence) to determine the highest Seed.
A. Tie Breakers (2 teams tied) for seeding after pool play:
1. Head-to-head record (when applicable).
2. Fewest total goals allowed.
3. Most total goals scored.
4. Goal differential.
5. Coin flip.
B. Tie Breakers when 3 or more teams are tied after pool play:
1. Fewest goals allowed.
2. Most total goals scored
3. Goal differential.
4. Coin flip
Penalties
Penalties will begin on the whistle to restart play and will be served time and a half (45 sec for a technical and 90 sec for a personal). Penalties run with the clock and do not stop, with the exception of end of quarters or for a timeout called. If penalty time expires during a stoppage in play, the player serving will not release until play restarts. Two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties result in an ejection from that game. If a player or coach is ejected from the game, they must sit out the following game as well.
Clearing
Advancement rules will be enforced in all games for 2032’s and above. The clearing team must advance the ball over the midline 20 seconds after gaining possession of the ball. No over-and-back until 20 seconds elapses. No Advancement rules are applicable for 2033/34 Divisions.
Checking
2032s and above one and two handed checks are allowed as long as the check makes contact with opposing players sticks and gloves. The 2033/34 division only two handed pokes, lifts, and slap checks that make contact with the players gloves or stick. No takeout checks. Long poles are allowed for every division.
Other Rules
Players are only allowed to play on one team per event. Exemptions MUST be made with Tournament Directors prior to event start.
Any team found with a player on multiple rosters will forfeit their playoff seeding and be relegated to the consolation bracket.
Two OLOA or WLOA officials are scheduled per games. All calls are final. No arguments. Disputes can result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
The leading team must keep the ball in the box under two minutes
No horns are allowed for substitutions.
